Circles, Snowmen At Night, Snowman Art

During our circle time, we learned about circles. We learned about what makes a circle and the things that surround us that looks like a circle (e.g., a donut, a car's wheel).

We also read a favourite book of mine called Snowmen At Night by Caralyn and Mark Buehner. It tells us the reason why sometimes our snowman's nose could be crooked or his hat is worn sideways the next time we see him because of what he does when he comes alive at night.

Then, we talked about what makes a snowman and we talked about the three circles on top of each other that makes him a snowman. Based on that, we made our special unique snowman art.

Triangles, Holiday Tree Art

We read a book about Triangles (awesome book for kindergarten!) and talked about what makes a triangles. We looked at the pages to see that there are many things in our world that are made up of triangles (e.g., sailboat).

We also read a book about the origins of the Christmas tree. Did you know it started as a décor for plays being staged in olden days? And the first decorations were only apples? The book was interesting about how Christmas trees became a part of our holiday traditions.

Using triangles and the idea of Christmas trees or Holiday trees, we made special art making our wonderful Holiday Trees. The child has the free hand to choose how many triangles he/she wants to use and to create the background he/she wants. Enjoy@
